Who doesn't like great photos. I created a NEW page on the Family Genealogy Website that I'm calling "Who Are They?". On this page, I will be displaying photos that I've gotten from cousins in my LOFTIN and GOBLE lineages - but they may be photos from our other family lines such as Cranford, Beatty, Lomax, Douglas, Miller and so on. Unfortunately, these same cousins inherited these photos from their parents and grandparents but they have no idea the people in the photos are. I'd like to ask you to take a look at the page, look at the photos, look at the houses and backgrounds, and see if there is anyone you recognize. Then, if you do, email me. There are some really great photos that deserve a home, but that won't happen if they can't be identified. Here are a few smaller samples - a few of my favorites. (The 3 on the left came from a Goble cousin - the 3 on the right came from a Loftin cousin. Thanks for your help.

FAMILY: Loftin
(Beatty, Corzine, Cranford, Fisher, Givens, Harwell, Kaiser, Lanier, Lomax, McCorkle, Rudisill, Sherrill, Upright, Washington, Work)

1. Sarah Gaye Loftin Clevenger, 56, of Winfield, WV, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, November 27, 2018. Sarah was a member of Nitro Church of the Nazarene. Her heart was dedicated to God and to the music of the church where she was the Praise Team Leader for over seven years. She was writer, director and actress in many wonderful church Christmas plays. God gave her the gift of sales and she received numerous awards for her sales performances.

Sarah was preceded in death by her parents, Larry Loftin Sr. and Sarah Fain Wolz, and sister, Iva Mae Peters. She is survived by her husband of 23 years, Mike Clevenger; children, Anthony Gunnoe, Jordan Clevenger, Justin Clevenger, Mandy Clevenger, Seth Gunnoe, Austin Clevenger; siblings, Larry Loftin Jr., Paul Smith, Susan Skirpam, and James Smith; seven grandchildren. She is also survived by her church family and many many friends who all loved her dearly. The family would like to give special thanks to the University of Kentucky hospital staff and the Bluegrass Hospice at UK hospital.

A tribute to the life of Sarah will be 11 a.m. Monday, December 3, at Nitro Church of the Nazarene, with Pastor Bron Walker officiating. Entombment will follow in Haven of Rest Memory Gardens, Red House, WV.

2. When my Mom, Willie Goble Loftin, had to go into a nursing home at the age of 90, I promised her that I'd not do a week-long vacation so that I could visit with her 3 or 4 times a week. Mom passed away in February of this year so Carolyn and I planned our first beach vacation in two and a half years. We opted for a week in North Myrtle Beach, SC, and found a lovely place at Baywatch - right on the beach. We were able to sit on the deck or even in our living room and watch the waves. Due to Carolyn's ill health, we were only able to go out to eat twice and only got to do two short walks on the beach. But it was still wonderful to get away with my bride of 43 years and enjoy the beach together. Our daughter, Beth, and two oldest granddaughters were able to come down and spend a few days with us. Here are a few photos.

1. I got a nice email from Hank Loftin in Houston, Texas. We're not sure where our families connect, but I do know that one of James & Susannah Sherrill Loftin's sons relocated to Texas (6 generations back) so there's a pretty good possibility that our two families are connected. Hank says ...
"Just looking at the Loftin Family website and I didn't see anyone possibly related to me. I'm from Houston, TX. I'm a half Pacific Islander Loftin. My dad is from Cooper, Texas, and His dad was born in Jasper, Alabama.
My Paternal Grandfather, Joe W. Loftin, was born 08 Nov 1891, in Jasper Alabama, a son of Jim Loftin & Mary Loftin. He was a lifelong resident of Delta County and a retired farmer and insurance agent. Surviving are his wife, Euna; four sons, Royce Loftin of Cooper, Berne Loftin of Houston, James Loftin of Cooper and Harold Loftin of Damon; two daughters, Mrs. Marcile Dunn of Mesquite and Mrs. Norma Burch of Mesquite; a sister, Mrs. Fannie Muncy of Pecan Gap; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
My Paternal Grandmother, Euna, was born 1895 and died 1996 (aged 100-101). Joe and Euna are both buried in the Oakland Cemetery, Cooper, Delta County, Texas."

1. I got a phone call from Wayne Curtis Watts who lives is Florida. One of Wayne's family branches it the Beatty family. Wayne comes up for the Beatty reunion which is held every year in the Sherrills Ford area. He shared descendancy information with me as well as some photos. I've added the descendancy information to the Beatty Descendancy Page. I'll add the photos as time allows. You can contact Wayne at wwatts4@cfl.rr.com . Thanks Wayne.

2. As a result of the phone call and information about the Beatty Family that Wayne Curtis Watts shared with me, I've been working exclusively for the past few week on the Beatty Family - including adding members from the Beatty descendancy to the various military pages. One such individual was Cpl. William Spencer "Spence" Sigmon, Jr., b. 1949, who was killed as he stepped off of a helicopter in Vietnam in May 1970. Spence was only 20 years old at the time. I've added a photo of Spence and information about him to the Vietnam War page in the section under LOFTINS. Spence and I share common 4x Great Grandparents: William Able Beatty & Isabella McCorkle. He would have been my (Curtis Loftin) 5th cousin.

TRIBUTE To Willie/Mama: (By Curtis Loftin) My "Mama" was an absolutely awesome woman. She was truly one of those people who loved the LORD and loved her family with all of her heart. Mom was one of the younger children in her family so she was one of the few who worked in the house along side of her own mother while the older children worked out in the fields. She loved to share stories about her family and when she was growing up. She was a good wife who worked and took care of Daddy when he was no longer able to work. She nursed him tenderly until the day he died in 1979, when she was 54. I'm still not sure how they were financially able to get me through college. Mom & Dad kept Grandpaw (Martin Goble) for many years, until Dad got sick and she couldn't look after both of them. Mama was a "giver" and would go without so that she could give to her kids and grandkids. She was truly a "cheerful giver". Mama loved to pray and always remembered her family in her daily prayers - petitioning the LORD when she knew there was a spiritual or physical need in their lives. She loved preaching and gospel music (especially the Gaither Homecoming series) and was faithful to her church (Mathis Chapel Baptist Church where she was a charter member) from the time she got "saved" until she was no longer physically able to go. She went to church with Carolyn and me at Covenant Church in Lincolnton for four years before she asked me to place her in a nursing home. She knew she needed the additional help, but I often felt she asked to go just so I wouldn't eventually have to make that decision myself. She was just like that - always looking out for me. Even in the nursing home, she went to all the preaching and singing events there. I lost Daddy when I was 26 and am thankful that the LORD let me keep Mama until I was 64 - what a blessing. But I do miss her - and I know I always will - until we're reunited in Heaven. I love you, Mama.

**** "Infant Son 4" Loftin 1928 1928 [Died in Infancy]
* Willie Thelma Loftin and Callie Elma Loftin were twins - born on 31 May 1911 in Catawba County, North Carolina.
**Daisy Pearl Loftin and "Infant Son 2" Were twins - born on 06 Jun 1914. "Infant Son 2" only lived a few days before his death.
*** The Catawba County Birth Index for this child, "Infant Son 33, shows that he was born 22 Oct 1922 (the same day and month as his older brother Oscar).  This child's Death Certificate shows that he died 27 Oct 1922 and that he lived for 1 day and 2 hours - so it's more likely that the child was born on 26 Oct 1922 - instead of 22 Oct 1922 as the Birth Index shows.  Cause of death was "malformation of upper air passage".
**** It's possible that this last "Infant Son" of Alonzo and Ida was born in 1927.  It is also possible that the grave marker for this "Infant Son" born in 1928 was incorrectly dated and should have been for the 1922 "Infant Son".
