The Goble Family
Name Origin: ENGLAND, GERMANY
The Goble name is first found in Essex, England where the Gobles were anciently seated as Lords of the Manor. The German spelling is Gobel. Some of the first settlers of this family name were settlers who were recorded from the mid 17th Century in the great migration from Europe. Migrants settled in the eastern seaboard from Newfoundland, to Maine, to Virginia, the Carolinas, and to the islands. Thomas Goble (Jan 1590, Westergate, England) and his wife Alice appear to be the first Gobles to come to America The largest number of Gobles in the US reside in Kentucky, Indiana and Illinois. There are also sizeable groups of Gobles in North Carolina, Georgia, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas and California.
