Marion David Loftin died 16 Aug 1880 of typhoid fever contracted while on a visit to some friends in Mecklenburg County.  Sarah drove the wagon back from Mecklenburg because Marion became so ill he could not handle the reins.

After Marion's death, Sarah Frances Beal Loftin married Malachi Hovis - a widower with eight children.

Laura Eugenia Loftin, born 21 Dec 1869, died 26 Feb 1945.  She is buried at Hollybrook Cemetery in Lincolnton, NC.  She married RObert Hoke Dellinger
 
 
Dorah Christina Loftin, born 19 Nov 1871, died 08 Aug 188.  She is buried at Asbury Methodist Church Cemetery.  Dorah never married.
 
Callie Juetta Loftin, born 21 Dec 1873, died Nov/Dec 1911.  Callie never married.  She was bedridden for several years before her death.  She was paralyzed as a result of a back injury.  Callie is buried at Asbury Methodist Church Cemetery.
 
 
William Forney Loftin, born 25 Nov 1875, died 13 May 1945.  He married first to Ellen Huffstetler at the age of 21 on 06 Dec 1896 by J.O. Allen, J.P.  Ellen was 18 years old.  Witnesses were E. A. Huffstetler, F. Huffstetler and T. B. Summey.  They were married in Lincoln County.
 
 
Minnie Loftin, born 31 May 1879, d. 11 Oct 1939.  She married John Laban Troutman.  Upon her death, she was buried at Asbury Methodist Church Cemetery.
