Ellen died 29 Apr 1919 in Long Shoals, Lincoln County, NC.

Forty-seven year old Forney was living on the "rented" family farm in the River Bend Township of Gaston County, NC.  Nine of his ten children were still living at home.  Only 19-year-old son William E. Loftin was gone.  Twenty-two year old daughter Bessie had married George Mosteller and was living with Forney and her siblings.  Forney and George both worked as house carpenters while Carl, Marion and Minnie worked at the local cotton mill.

After Ellen's death, William Forney Loftin married June Turbeyfield.

The 1930 North Carolina Census shows William Forney and his new wife, June, living in the Gastonia Township of Gaston County, NC.  His sons Belton (age 22), Cletus (age 16), and Grady (age 13) were still living at home.  A 6-year-old niece by the name of Dorothy Huffstetler was also living with the family.  William Forney's first wife was Ellen Huffstetle so Dorothy was probably her niece.  Willan, Belton and Cletus all worked at the cotton mill while 13-year-old Grady went to school.  William Forney's daughter Bessie and her husband George Mosteller were living nearby.
