Mary Fisher. She was born 08 Aug 1826 in Lincoln/Catawba

James Franklin enlisted and entered the Civil War as part of the
Confederacy on 03 Mar 1863 as a Private at the age of 35/36.
He
was killed in action near Drewry’s Bluff, VA., on 16 May 1864. |

A widow at the age of 40, Elizabeth continued to run the farm
with the help of her children. |

was actually born Aug 1826. Her age was listed as 69, but
she was actually 73. |

By 1910, Elizabeth's son James and his second wife, Fannie, were
living with her. Elizabeth's age was listed as 83.
Whether she could read or write is still unsure since the data
changed from census to census. |

Lois Virginia Loftin Mundy was born 13 Dec 1908. She
recalls her Great Grandmother Frances Elizabeth from when she
was a little girl. Lois says that she remember how much
Elizabeth enjoyed smoking her pipe. |
|
|
Elizabeth died 24 Jun 1918 at the age of 90 in Catawba County, NC,
from cholera morbus.
The term
cholera morbus was used in the 19th and early 20th
centuries to describe both nonepidemic cholera and other
gastrointestinal diseases. Dr. Fred Long was
the attending physician. She was
buried at Center Methodist Church. |
