The beautiful vase, below, was a wedding gift that was given by Cordie Loftin Wilson to Garland & Rosa Loftin on 23 Jun 1912 in honor of their marriage.  After his death of typhoid fever on 02Aug 1912, it was given back to his baby sister, Cordie.  After Cordie's death, it passed to her son Kenneth & his wife Mildred Cline Wilson. After Mildred's death in Nov 2012, it passed to Ken & Mildred's daughter, Dianne Wilson Elliott.  When Dianne and her husband Wade decided to sell the Wilson-Elliott home and move to the beach, Curtis acquired the vase.

Eulogy from the Catawba Young Peoples Home Missionary Society

Resolutions of Respect

Whereas, our Heavenly Father in His divine wisdom has seen fit to remove from our society one of our members, Mr. Garland Loftin.
Resolved 1st - That though we mourn the loss of one who has been a faithful member, yet we grieve not as those who have no hope of meeting their loved ones again, for while he is removed from earth, we feel that he is still interested in the good we are trying to do here on earth.
Resolved 2nd - That we tender our deepest sympathy and love to the bereaved ones, assuring them that their sorrow is ours.
Resolved 3rd - That there resolutions be spread upon our minutes, copies sent to the members of the family of the deceased and to the county papers and the Christian Advocate.
