Cordie Bland Loftin was the seventh child born to William Alexander Loftin and Laura Rossie Cranford.  Cordie was born 26 Aug 1894 in Catawba County, North Carolina.

According to Mildred Cline Wilson (Cordie's daughter-in-law), Garland sent Cordie to Millenary Shcool in Charlotte.  She would eventually find employment at Belks, dressing hats.

 

                             

Cordie married Thomas Robinson Wilson.  Tom was the son of John Harvey Wilson and Nancy Milly Catherine "Katie" Jones.  Tom was born 23 May 1891 in Catawba County, North Carolina.  Cordie and Tom were actually second cousins.

Mildred Wilson said that Cordie had told her how she had worked at the C. M. Rowe store in North Newton while Tom was in the military.

Tom died 29 Nov 1972 in Catawba County.  Cordie died 06 May 1981 in Catawba County.  They are buried at Center Methodist Church in Catawba County, North Carolina.

Jack Thomas Wilson served in the military during WWII.  He enlisted on 13 Jun 1940 in the U.S. Army - Infantry & Paratroopers.  He was 20 years old at the time and single.  Jack served for 6 years in the U.S. Army during World War II - spending 5 years and 9 months of that time over seas - including the Philippines, Luzon (the largest island of the Philippines) and New Guinea.  For photos and more information on Jack's military service, go to World War II.
 
Jack Thomas Wilson married Clara Mae Carter on 4 Apr 1946.  Their marriage produced 3 children: Ann Gray Wilson, Vickie Diane Wilson and Jack Morris Wilson.
 

Clara Mae Carter Wilson's Obituary

 
Clara Mae Carter Wilson, 85, of Catawba, passed away at Iredell Memorial Hospital in Statesville on Saturday, Feb 4, 2012, after a period of declining health.  Born Jan 9, 1927, in Durham, she was the daughter of the late Walter Gray and Minnie Morris Carter.  In addition to her parents, she was precede in death by her devoted husband, Jack Thomas Wilson, of Catawba.  She is survived by her three children, Ann Gray Wilson of Catawba, Vickie Wilson Rowe and husband, Rocky Rowe, of Conover, and Jack Morris Wilson and wife, Jan, of Mooresville; grandchildren, Ashley Rowe of Conover and Jason Payne of Lincolnton; sister, Betty Carter Waters of Raleigh; sister-in-law, Mildred Wilson of Catawba; and a number of nieces and nephews.  A member of Catawba Baptist Church since childhood, she remained active until her illness.  She worked for many years at Betterwear Hosiery Mill in Catawba, and as a teacher's assistant at both Catawba and Oxford Elementary Schools for 25 years.  At Sears in the Valley Hills Mall, she worked for 27 years as a part-time sales clerk.  Clara was also a longtime, active member of Catawba Chapter #124, Order of the Eastern Star, and served in a number of offices.  Known as a great cook, an avid antique collector, a loyal friend, and a loving and devoted mother and grandmother, she will be missed by all who knew her.   celebration of life officiated by Rev. Derek Jones will be held Monday, Feb 6, 2012, at 2 pm, at Catawba Baptist Church with interment to follow immediately at Catawba Memorial Park.  Eastern Star graveside rites will be held.  Pallbearers will include Charles Grady Abernathy, Ray Abernathy, Ronnie Dellinger, Kevin Kale, Jerry Moose and Marty Watters.  The family requests that Eastern Star members sit as a body at the funeral.

CATAWBA - Kenneth Gray Wilson, 76, of Sherrills Ford Road, Catawba, passed away Thursday, Dec 29, 2005, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC.
 
Born May 1, 1929, in Catawba County, he was a son of the late Thomas Robinson Wilson and Cordie Loftin Wilson.
 
He was a 32nd degree Mason and Shriner.  He served eight years in the Army Reserve, reaching the rank of master sergeant.  He was also a devoted member of Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Catawba.
 
In addition to his parents, a son, Kenneth Wilson Jr.; and a brother, Jack T. Wilson, preceded him in death.
 
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mildred Wilson of the home; a daughter Dianne W. Elliottt and her husband, Wade, of Catawba; two sisters-in-law, Clara C. Wilson and Marie Deal; three brothers-in-lae, Lyerly Cline, John O. Cline and Milton Cline; seven nieces, Ann Wilson, Vickie Wilson Rowe, Brenda Eckard, Norma Boggs, Wanda Travis, Becky Cline and Donna Sigmon; and six nephews, Morris Wilson, Raymond Cline, Eddie Cline, Milton Cline Jr., Michael Cline and Charlie Deal III.
 
The funeral service will be held at 3 pm Sunday, Jan 1, 2006, at Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Catawba, With Pastors Dennis Hacker and Holly Adams officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery, with Masonic graveside rites.
 
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:30 pm Sunday at the church prior to the service.
 
 
 

Mildred Cline Wilson's Obituary

 
Mildred Rose Cline Wilson, 81, of Catawba passed away Thursday Nov 8, 2012, at Catawba Regional Hospice in Sherrills Ford.  Born 22 Nov 1930, in Catawba County, she was the daughter of the late Coley Calvin Cline and Ella Lee Wilson Cline.  Mildred devoted her life to her family and her church, Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Catawba, where she was instrumental in the church re-organization, the pianist and organist for more than 50 years, and worked tirelessly in all areas of the church.  She was a sweet, kind, loving and extremely generous person, a gifted musician, and also known for her culinary skills and most especially for her pound cake baking.  She welcomed her many friends and family to her table on a regular basis.  Her passion was teaching and enriching the lives of the many students she taught in her six years at Claremont Elementary and 24 years at Balls Creek Elementary and was voted Teacher of the Year by her peers.  She was also nominated and received induction to the prestigious "Who's Who Among America's Teachers", by the sister of a former student.  She was past Prescient of ACT, a member of NEA/NCAE and CCAE.  She was well known for the many school plays she wrote, directed and produced with her students, for the love of art and music.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Gray Wilson, Sr.; son, Kenneth G. Wilson, Jr.; brother, John O. Cline; and an infant sister, Elizabeth Cline.  She is survived by her daughter, Dianne W. Elliott and husband, Wade Elliott, Jr., of the home; granddaughter, Samantha Fox of Lincolnton, two brothers, Lyerly Cline and wife, Margaret, and Milton H. Cline and wife, Aileen, both of Claremont; sister, Marie C. Deal of Conover; sister in law, Elizabeth Heather Rennick, of Conover, and a number of nieces and nephews.  The funeral service will be held Sunday, Nov 11, at 2 pm, at Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Catawba, with the Rev. Rosa Erickson officiating.  The family will receive friends this evening (Saturday, Nov 10) from 5 to 7 pm, at Burke Mortuary in Newton.
 
 
 
Ken & Mildred's son, Kenny, was killed on 01 Sep 1973, when the motor bike he was riding collided with a truck.  Martha Bandy, a passenger on the motor bike, was also killed.
