Frances knew John Wesley Drum from the community where she
lived. His family had been near neighbors of the Loftin
family. |
|
The 1900 Catawba County Census reveals that Frances Ivey was not
living with her parents Alexander & Laura Loftin but no
indication has currently been found as to where she was living
at the time. Frances
would eventually marry Wesley Drum on 02 Jun 1901. This 1900
Census shows Wesley, age 19, still living at home with his
parents Thomas and Sarah Drum. The Census also shows her
paternal grandmother Elizabeth Loftin, age 69. There were
also a set of neighbors, the Wilkeys, who also live nearby. |

Garvin and Dorothy lived at 2100 Burgandy
Drive in Charlotte, NC. Their daughter, Dee Dee Jordan, further says of her
parents, "I moved my parents from Burgandry Drive in 2002 to be
closer to me at Cornelius - Lake Norman. They lived in a
beautiful condo on the water till their death - Dad 2003 at the
age 89 & Mother 2005 at the age 89." |
|
Garvin Loftin Drum died 18 May 2003. |
|
Additional information from Dee Dee Drum Jordan: |
"My Dad was an only child (twins after him born 1915 died age 2
1/2 months), I am an only child, and I have one son (William
Stephen Link II now 35 (in 2011)). I was born Galade
Ruth Drum (Dee Dee) July 7 1951 in Charlotte NC and have resided
here. My last name is Jordan and I currently live in
Cornelius at Lake Norman. I still have the record label
where my Dad came up with my name - Galade. There is a
story to that - my parents naming me. My Dad wanted to
name me Frances after him mother and my Mother wanted to name me
Katie after her Mother - they could not agree so my Dad set
about putting letter together GAL (Garvin Loftin) A
(and) DE (Dorothy Elam) - I have always been called Dee
Dee." |
