Thomas' age as 53. In addition to Thomas and
Mary, Thomas'
widowed half-sister Emmy Howell (Mrs. Jefferson

Thomas lived on a farm on the East Monbo Road. Some of the
estate was previously owned by Jeff Howell and Emma (Loftin)
Howell, who was a daughter from the first marriage of Edmund
Loftin. The Howell farm title was transferred to Thomas
Smith Loftin prior to Jeff Howell's death. It was agreed
that the Thomas Smith Loftin family would take care of Howell's
