Harry Guy Loftin was the ninth child born to Thomas Smith Loftin (b.1863) and Mary Jane Hartline.  Guy, as he was called by family and friends, was born 12 Jul 1904 in Iredell County, NC.

     Statesville, R-3, Jan 9 - The school is coming on just fine since the holidays with a good daily attendance.  The higher grades have organized "The Ostwalts Literary Society".  Officers for the society are as follows:

The 1930 Iredell County shows Thomas and Mary Loftin still living in Fallstown Township.  There were five of their children still living on the family farm: Mary, John, Guy, Fred and Dave.  Guy's age was listed as 25 and his occupation was that of a farmer.  His brothers, Thomas Percy Loftin and Stokes Mills Loftin, and their families were living nearby.

Guy married Floy Louise Douglas on 10 Jun 1933 in Rowan County, NC.  [Marriage date of Harry and Floy in the Loftin Bible is listed as 01 Apr 1933].  She was the daughter of Julius William Douglas and Adeline Davis.  Floy was born 15 Mar 1908 in Iredell County, nC.

Floy Louise Douglas Loftin died 03 Sep 1983 in Iredell County from cancer and is buried in Iredell Memorial Gardens.  The family attended St. John's United Methodist Church.

Norma Loftin Morrison, age 73 of Statesville passed away Sunday, November 21, 2010 at the Gordon Hospice House following a lengthy illness.
 
Norma was born in Iredell County on May 15, 1937 to the late Harry Guy Loftin, Sr. and Floy Louise Douglas Lofin.  Ms. Morrison graduated from Troutman High School and attended Mitchell College then continued her education at UNC Charlotte where she received her Bachelor's degree in Sociology.  She was a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church where she was also a member of the United Methodist Women.  Norma had been active in or on the board of directors of Energy United Foundation, Iredell Arts Council, Exchange Club Child Abuse prevention council (SCAN), was appointed by Gov. Jim Hunt to the North Carolina crime commission, was a member of the Statesville Little Theatre, had served as a PTA president, was a member of the North Carolina Social Services Association.  She was also a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Sorority.
 
She had worked at Grier Surveying Company and was retired from the Iredell County Department of Social Services where she served as a supervisor.  Most recently she worked part-time at Davis Regional Medical Center as a social worker.
 
Funeral services for Norma Morrison will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at Wesley Memorial UNC with the Rev. Karen Miller and the Rev. Gervace Hitch officiating.  Burial will follow at Iredell Memorial Gardens.  Visitation will be from 6:30 - 8:00 pm Monday, November 22, 2010 at Nicholson Funeral Home.
 
Norma is survived by her daughter Sheryl Morrison, one grandson Travis Morrison, two sisters, Joann Overcash and Elaine Loftin, one brother, Harry Loftin Jr. and wife Pat, three nephews, Danny Overcash, Jeff Loftin and Joel Loftin, one great nephew and two great nieces.  She is also survived by a special friend, Robert Lane of Raleigh.
 
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Gordon Hospice House, 2341 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625.  Nicholson Funeral home is serving the family of Norma Loftin Morrison.
