The Hedrick Family
Name Origin: GERMANY
The name Hedrick is first found in Silesia, Germany. Literal translation of the name places it as a "Combatant Ruler" or sometimes a "Heathland Ruler". In the old German the name was Haduric. Various spellings of the name include: Hedrick, Hedrich, Heidrick, Heidrich, Hiedrich, Hiedrick, Heidrig, Heidenreich, Heydenreich and Heidenrich. The German state of Silesia was named after the Silingers who were a Germanic tribe that lived in Silesia between the 2nd and the 6th Centuries. As a territory rich in coal and fertile soil, Silesia was often the target of foreign invasions. The Heavner family line merges with the Aderholt, Witherspoon and Setzer family lines. The larges number of Heavner families in the US reside in North Carolina.
