A Virtuous Woman

"A Virtuous Woman"

Proverbs 31:10
The Message

A good woman is hard to find, and worh far more than diamonds. Her husband trusts her without reserve, and never has reason to regret it. She is never spiteful and she treats him generously all her life long. She shops around for the best yarns and cottons, and enjoys knitting and sewing. She's like a trading ship that sails to faraway places and brings back exotic surprises. She's up before dawn, preparing breakfast for her family and organizing her day. She looks over a field and buys it, then, with the money she' put aside, plants a garden. First thing up in the morning, she dresses for work, rolls up her sleeves, eager to get started. She is skilled in the crafts of home and dearth/cooking, dilligent in homemaking. She's quick to assist anyone in neeed, reaches out to help the poor. She doesn't worry about her family when it snows; their winter clothes are all mended and ready to wear. Her husband is greatly respected when he deliberates with the congregational leaders. Her clothes are well-made and elegant, and she always faces tomorrow with a smile. When she speaks, she has something worthwhile to say, and she always says it kindly. She keeps an eye on everyone in her household, and keeps them all busy and productive. Her children respect and bless her; her husband joins in with words of praise: "Mamy women have done wonderful things, but you've outclassed them all!" Charm can mislead and beauty soon fades, but the woman to be admired and praised is the woman who lives in the Fear-of-GOD. Give her everything she deserves. Fill her life with praise.

I love you, Savanna, and this is what I see in you. Seek the LORD for EVERYTHING.
Only Jesus can truly sattisfy your soul. Love, Poppi

Take Time to Smell the Flowers

Not "Just" Outward Beauty

1 Peter 3

There are many things in life that "matter" - including your appearance. What matters MOST is not JUST your outer appearance - the styling of your hair, the jewelry you wear, the cut of your clothes - but instead your gentle and kind heart. Cultivate inner beauty, the gentle, gracious kind that GOD delights in. The holy women of old, in the Scriptures, were beautiful before even GOD that way. Be agreeable, be sympathetic, be loving, be compassionate, be humble. NO exceptions. NO retaliations. NO sharp-tongued sarcasm.

Whoever wants to embrace life and see the day fill up with good, Here's what to do: Say nothing evil or hurtful; Snub evil and cultivate good; ren after peace for all you're worth. GOD looks on all this with approval, listening and responding well.

Savanna, you have such a big heart. I've seen it so often over the years.
You may have had your rebellious teenage years, but even then your heart was always gentle.
It's so very important that you stay that way as you move further and further into adulthood.
It'll make a world of difference to you as a mother and wife.
I love you, Poppi

Coronavirus COVID-19 Pandemic

Savanna's 2020 year took a strange turn in early March 2020 when the entire world was faced with the Coronavirus Pandemic (officially named "COVID-19" by the World Health Organization). At first, groups of over 100 were discouraged from meeting, then groups of 50, then 20, then 10, and finally 2. We quickly became familiar with the phrase "social-distancing" - a guide to stay at least 6 feet away from others. As the number of coronavirus cases quickly escalated to over 1,000,000 confirmed cases world-wide, countries went into lockdown while most of the states in the USA, including North Carolina, issued "Stay-at-Home" orders. The US restricted non-US citizens from entering the country and many people on vacation out of the US found it difficult to get back home.

Churches were discouraged from meeting and most pastors did their Sunday sermons on Facebook or some other streaming service, such as Savanna's pastor Mike Divine at Covenant Church in Lincolnton, NC who shared his sermons on Facebook.

Travis Triplett, Pastor of Mathis Chapel Baptist Church in Catawba County (and Savanna's maternal Great-Grandmother Willie Goble Loftin's former church pastor and church), preached on the porch outside of his church while church members stayed in their cars and listened to the sermon from there. Many other churches around the country started doing the same thing and the phrase "drive-in church" was born. Officers in some states started "ticketing" some of these church members resulting in churchs suing their cities for infringing on their constutional rights to assemble - especially since they were abiding by the "social-distancing" guidelines. Some churches, however, refused to stop having Sunday services and continued to meet inside of the building, refusing to "social distance" - saying that the constution guaranted them the right to assemble. Those pastors were right about the constitution but unfortunately, the coronavirus was spread among many of those church pastors and members. Many of which died.

Schools were closed - as well as hair salons and many other businesses that weren't considered "essential". Essential jobs and businesses included doctors & nurses, law enforcement, dental offices, pharmacies, clinical industries, food and beverage producers and distributors (like Walmart and other grocery stores), charity organizations, religious centers, media, gas stations, financial and insurance institutions, hardware supply stores, construction, plumbers, electricians, exterminators, cleaning and janitorial services, mail, laundry services, legal services, defense and military contractors, hotels & motels, funeral services, pet & feed stores, beer, wine and liquior stores.

Catawba County School's students were sent home in March. From there, they completed daily class instruction via internet classes. For those families that did not have computers or internet, schools loaned computers and Charter/Spectrum Internet provided free service to two months. Savanna's mother, Beth, taught her students in small groups via the internet at home.

When schools and universities were first closed, many high school and college students headed to the "beach" for spring break - not considering the fact that they could carry the virus back home to parents, grandparents and sibling - with possible deadly results. As a result, east coast states closed their beaches and then fined anyone who was not adhering to beach policies.

Savanna had been working at a company making dental inplants and dentures but with the stay-at-home order she lost her job.

Restaurants were open (as well as fast-food restaurants), but only for "drive-through" or "pick-up". Savanna's sister Ali started working at Chick-Filet in Hickory during the summer of 2019 and continued to work there, even during the coronavirus pandemic. She spent most of her time working outside at the drive-through taking food orders. The restaurant did change working schedules for employees to Monday, Wednesday, Friday OR Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday to keep empolyees from crossing paths with other employees. Ali worked on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

As shortages of medical and cleaning supplies increased (surgical masks, surgical goves, hand sanitiser, etc.), US citizens were discouraged from purchasing surgical masks so that they could be sent to doctors, nurses and other healtcare workers working in the heart of the pandemic around the US. Many manufacturers changed the type of product they manufactured in order to help with pandemic supplies but also to keep their business open. One company that produced burbon, started producing hand sanitider and became "essential". Savanna's dad's company, NUFABRX, that produced copper-infused-yarn started producing copper-infused surgical masks and the company became "essential". Since Savanna had lost her job she was hired by NUBABRX to make deliveries. Eventually the CDC (the US Center of Disease Control) encouraged those who were staying at home to use home-made masks when they went they had to leave home - goint to the doctor, pharmacy or grocery store.

We learned that the coronavirus was "extremely" contagious and by 07 April, the US had 394,587 confirmed cases and 13,000 deaths from the virus. North Carolina saw its biggest jump in the number of COVID-19 related deaths with 13 deaths in a single day - a total of 52 deaths and 3,250 confirmed cases of the virus in the state in early April. Catawba County had 25 confirmed cases of the virus and had one death. On 07 April, the US had over 1,700 deaths in a single day.

The elderly and those that already had underlying medical conditions (like diabetes, asthma and other breathing problems, etc.) were extremely susceptible to the virus and most didn't survive if they got COVID-19. As a result, all three of Savanna's grandparents self-quarantined themselves in their homes - even from their children and grandchildren in order to avoid the possibility of catching the virus. Savanna did grocery store pick-ups for her paternal grandmother Jo Ann Seese while her mother, Beth, and Uncle Philip did pick-ups for her maternal grandparents, Curtis & Carolyn Loftin. Ali and Savanna's dad, Brad, make sure all of the grandparents got one of NUFABRX's newly produced copper-infused surgical masks.

As world-wide panic escalated, people started hoarding food (especially canned goods), cleaning supplies and essentials like toilet paper. In Walmart, if you weren't there early in the morning, there was no toilet paper later in the day. Walmart eventually started limiting the number of many items to "2" in order to help restrict hoarding. Eventually Walmart was forced to take stricter contingecies with employees and customers. Only 20 customers were allowed into the store for every 1000 sq ft of store space. When one cutomer came out of the store, one more was allowed to go in.

Large cities like New York City, Seattle, San Francisco, Atlanta, Detroit, Chicago, New Orleans, Boston and Denver became "hot beds" for the virus. Virus-models speculated that we could have as many as 100,000 to 200,000 deaths in the US.  By the end of April, those numbers dropped. In North Carolina, Mecklenburg and Wake counties were the haredest hit with coronavirus cases and deaths.

The company that Savanna's dad, Brad Seese, worked for, NuFabrx, produced yarn infused with cooper. The company switched to making "mask" to help meet the shortage during the coronavirus - producint 500,000 per week. The company CEO was interviewed on FOX NEWS and there was even an add in GQ.

My Mom Always Told Me I Wouldn't Amount to Anything Lying on the Sofa
and Yet Here I Am, Saving The World!

Philippians 4

Don't fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let your praises shape your worries into prayers letting GOD know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God's wholeness, everything comeing together for good, will come and settle you down. It's wonderful what happens when Christ disolves worry at the center of your life.

2 Timothy 1:7

God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love and a sound mind.

Life gets scary at times, Savanna, ane most people have a tendency to let fear control their lives.
We will have bad circumstances and situations in our life from time to time, and GOD does not always work them out the way we think He will. BUT, He did say He's never leave us or forsake us. Even in the scariest day, Jesus is rith there with you. And as long as I'm here, I will be too. I love you. Poppi

Pesach/Passover and Easter Amid Covid-19

STATISTICS
The United States had 763,836 cases of the coronavirus on 19 Apr 2020 with over 20,000 brand new cases and a total of 40,555 deaths.
On 20 Apr 2020, the US had over 29,000 new coronavirus cases. The US had 38,764 new cases of the coronavirus on 24 Apr 2020.

There were no Easter services at most churches in 2020. As the coronavirus contued to esculate around the world, church services changed. Covenant Church in Lincolnton, Savanna's church, had live streaming on Facebook to meet the need of the church members. It's not the same as being there, but we're thankful to have these opportunities to still connect.

Savanna & her famly always participate in the annual Pesach/Passover Seder at Beit Yeshua/Covenant in Lincolnton,
but do to the coronavirus this year, there was no large-group Seder. Hopefully next year we'll be able to do it again.

Praise, Worship & Israeli Folk Dance at the 2016 Pesach/Passover Seder.  Savanna is # 1 and Beth is # 2.

Savanna is a wonderful giver. This is what she posted on Facebook on her birthday:

If ANYWONE is not working/not getting a paycheck and runs out of food, please don't go to sleep or let your children go to sleep with an empty stomach. Don't be afraid or embarrassed to send me a private message. It will be kept conficential. I will be more than happy to share food that I have or drop a bag of groceries. I'll just drop and go. Let's help each other out. We are all in this together.

 Proverbs 11:25 / Luke 6:38 / Matthew 6:2

The one who blesses others is abundantly blessed; those who help others are helped themselves.
Give away your life; you'll fing life given back to you, but not merely given back - given back with bonus and blessing.
When you do something for someone else, don't call attention to yourself (if possible). When you help someone out, just do it, quietly.

Savanna, I'm so proud of your willingness to help others in need. It's a GOD thing. He wants us to constantly be aware of those around us with "real" need - and then to help them as best we can. Sometimes if might be financially, but at other times it might be a "deed" of some type. May the LORD always speak to your heart and show you how to show His love to others. I love you, FOREVER! Poppi.

"For I know the plans I have for you", says the LORD. "They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.

Knowing who we are, somehow changes our faec: it changes our face in the mirror. It softens our face as we face the world. It turns our face, unashamedly towards God. May you never forget who you are. For the face of the mirror is - daughter of GOD. No other name given to us stands more permanent that that nature - daughter. No other title we carry will surpass that one - daughter. No other calling is greater - daughter. We are chosen, valuable, beautiful and secure. We are in Messiah and we are powerful in Him and beautiful because His Ruach/Spirit is in us. I love you. Poppi.

Psalm 139:13-16, 23-24

You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother's womb. Body and soul, I am marvelously made! You know me inside out, you know every bone in my body; You know exactly how I was made, bit by bit, how I was sculpted from nothing into something. Like and open book, you watched me grow from conception to birth; all the stages of my life were spread out before you. The days of my life all prepared before I'd even lived on day.

Investigate my life, O GOD, find out everything about me; Cross-examine and test me, get a clear picture of what I'm about; See for yourself whether I've done anything wrong - then guide me on the road to eternal life.

THANKSGIVING DAY

Polital leaders and the news media suggested that families not get together at Thanksgiving or Christmas due to COVID-19, but we decided not to follow their suggestion. Everyone gathered at Poppi & Nonni's house for lunch then went to Uncle Philip's house for our annual family phtos.

1 John 1:8-9

If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Oh, Dear Savanna, how often "I've" failed the LORD and remembered this scripture as I turned my heart back to Him. We all sin. Some sins may seem big and others small, but regardless, they all separate us from GOD. I was born-again when I was 17 and I've failed the LORD many times during this long life of mine. Sometimes I sinned "accidentally" - but there were times I knew something was a sin and I did it anyway - intentionally. That type of sin is called "iniquity". I'm so very thankful that the LORD doesn't just forgive our accidental sins, but that He forgives our intentional sins, too. Unfortunately, I've lived too much of my life trying to be good enough for God. Scripture tells us that we never can. It's only by God's amazing Grace that we could ever be saved. May your life be one where you only have to ask forgiveness for the accidental sins - but if you do "stumble" - know that God is still right there for you - just as He's always been for me. I love you, Sweetie. Poppi
