In 1930, there were still six children living with Bill Caldwell on the family farm in Caldwell Township in Catawba County, NC.  Bill's age was 58 and the family home was $2500.  The Census shows that he was 24 years old when he married Mary Elizabeth Crouse.  The children still living at home were Maudie (age 24), Tiny (age 22), Mary (age 19), Rhoda (age 18), Lillie (age 15) and Frank (age 13).  Lillie and Frank were still attending school.

This Census says that the data was collected on 25 Apr 1930 - but that must have been when the Census Taker completed their job of collecting data.  Bill's daughter Tinie/Tiny Elizabeth Caldwell died on 14 Apr 1930 - more than likely just days after the Census Taker was at the Caldwell home.  All of the older children were working on the family farm except for Tiny - indicating that she may have been sick at the time.

William Pinkney Caldwell

William "Bill" Pinkney Caldwell died on 16 Jan 1947 in Catawba County, NC, at the age of 75.  Mary Elizabeth Crouse Caldwell died 04 Jun 1917 at the age of 39.  They are buried in the cemetery of Mt. Ruhama Baptist Church in Catawba County, NC.

Bill Caldwell's death certificate shows that his cause of death was "Cerebral Thrombosis" or the presence of a blood clot and can result in a stroke.  Bill's son, Frank, was the informant.  His parents are listed as J.J. Caldwell and Elizabeth Drum.  At the time of his death he was living at Rt. 1, Maiden, NC.  His Death Certificate incorrectly lists his age as 78.
