Monday
night a week ago, Mr. Brooks Loftin and miss Florence
Millstead, who lived near Mr. A. P. Clark's in Fallstown
Township, ran away to get married. The girl was
only 17 and the mother objected to the marriage.
The couple went first to Catawba and then to Lincoln
County, but failing to get license on account of the
girl's age, they went on to South Carolina where no
license is required. The trip occupied several
days but they made it successfully and were wed. |
