Our Last
Trip to Disney World 2015 |
|
|
 |
|
Our last trip to Disney World was in Nov, 2015. Our previous
trips had been in March and October. We knew we didn't want to
go in the summer and figured that November would be perfect
weather. But unfortunately, we were having a "heat wave" on the
east coast and even though it was November, Disney World was
miserably hot.
This page is just a quick preview of the
resort where we stayed at Disney,
Dixie Landings, as well as the four theme
parks:
Animal Kingdom,
Disney's Hollywood Studios,
Epcot and
Magic Kingdom. If you want to see all the
photos follow the links in this paragraph or the links below
each section below. We did not visit any of the water parks or
Downtown Disney/Disney Springs on this trip. |

DIXIE LANDINGS |
|
|
Disney's Port Orleans Resort Riverside was designed to reflect
the antebellum south along the Mississippi River. The resort
opened in 02 Feb 1992 as DISNEY'S DIXIE LANDINGS RESORT,
initially with rooms located in its Alligator Bayou section.
Shortly afterwards the Magnolia Bend section was opened. We
stayed in the Alligator Bayou section of Dixie Landing.
Alligator Bayou has 1,024 guest rooms in 16 buildings styled as
rustic, weathered lodges, with 64 rooms per lodge. |

ANIMAL KINGDOM |
|
|
DISNEY'S ANIMAL KINGDOM is a zoological theme
park at the Walt Disney World Resort in Bay Lake, Florida, near
Orlando. Animal Kingdom is the largest theme park in the world,
covering 580 acres. The park opened on Earth Day, 22 Apr 1998,
and was the fourth theme park built at the resort. The park is
dedicated and themed entirely around the natural environment and
animal conservation, a philosophy once pioneered by Walt Disney
himself.
Animal Kingdom is distinguished from the rest of
the Disney World theme parks in that it features traditional
attractions while also exhibiting hundreds of species of live
animals. Due to these sensitive conditions, special designs and
provisions were incorporated throughout the park to protect the
animals' welfare. The park is the second-most visited at Disney
World, behind Magic Kingdom. |

DISNEY'S HOLLYWOOD STUDIOS |
|
|
DISNEY'S HOLLYWOOD STUDIOS is one of the four
theme parks at Disney World in Bay Lake, FL, near Orlando. The
park opened in 1989 as the Disney-MGM Studios Park and was the
third of the four theme parks at Disney World. Spanning 135
acres, the park is dedicated to the imagined worlds from film,
television, music, and theatre, drawing inspiration from the
Golden age of Hollywood. |
|
 |
|
HOLLYWOOD BOULEVARD, inspired by the real
street of the same name, serves as the park's main entrance and
operates in the same vein as Main Street, U.S.A. at Magic
Kingdom. It is lined with themed streetscape facades and venues
selling Disney merchandise and park services. Live street
entertainment and seasonal parades travel down the main street
throughout the day. |

THE SEAS, formerly called THE LIVING SEAS,
is an aquarium and attached dark ride attraction located on the
western side of Future World at Epcot. The pavilion is themed as
an underwater exploration base called SeaBase Alpha, with
several exhibits devoted to oceanic study. The pavilion opened
in 1986. In 2003, the name was changed to The Seas With Nemo &
Friends. |

The CANADA PAVILION is designed to remind guests of Canada's
outdoors. It includes a canyon, a waterfall, gardens, a pool
with fountains, and totem poles. Further in to the pavilion,
beyond the rustic log cabins, a small thoroughfare is designed
to represent the British and French influences and heritage
through its building. The Chateau Frontenac dominates the
skyline. The main attraction is "Canada: Far and Wide", a
Circle-Vision 360° movie of Canada's cities, scenery and people.
The pavilion also includes Le Cellier Steakhouse and the former
home of the Celtic rock band Off Kilter. |

|
MAGIC KINGDOM is a theme park at Walt Disney
World Resort in Bay Lake, Florida, near Orlando. Its design is
dedicated to fairy tales and Disney characters. The park is
represented by Cinderella Castle, inspired by the fairy tale
castle seen in the 1950 film. It 2019 the park hosted almost 21

|
CINDERELLA CASTLE is Cinderella's fairy tale
castle and the center of Magic Kingdom in Disney World. The
castle was inspired by a variety of real and fictional palaces.
There are 27 towers on the castle and it is surrounded by a
moat. In February 2020, Disney announced that the castle would
be getting dark blue roofs, a slight rose pink color, and have
many gold trim accents on the castle, along with darker stone. |
