The 1900 Catawba County Census shows Patrick & Margaret Setzer living in Newton Township with seven children.  Jones Garland born 23 May 1877 had died 22 Jul 1889 and Ivy Lee Setzer (twin to Ida) born 25 Apr 1884 had died nine months later on 02 Feb 1885.  Miles Setzer's wife, Effie, is listed as a "boarder" instead of a "Daughter-in-Law".
 
Daisy McNeill Setzer was listed as 10 years old on the 1900 census.  Her birthday was listed as June 1889.

Obituary For Nannie Elizabeth Sigmon Sigman

 
Nannie Sigmon Sigman, 85, of Bethany Church Road, Claremont, died Monday, Jan. 31, 2005.

Born Jan, 25, 1920, in Catawba County, she was the daughter of the late Leslie Burette and Daisy Setzer Sigmon.

She retired as a bookkeeper for Timmerman Manufacturing. She was a longtime member of Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, where she was in the choir for 50 years, taught Sunday school for over 50 years and was a member of the Women’s Group and the Social Ministry Committee.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, John Patrick Sigmon, Leslie Jackson Sigmon and James Burette Sigmon.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Randall Banner of Conover; a son, Leslie Sigman of Hickory; three grandchildren, Matthew, Christina and Jonathan Banner; a sister, Daisy L. Sigmon of Claremont; three stepdaughters, Willie Pearl Yount and husband, Paul, of Conover, Carolyn Sigman of Hickory and Mary Frazier and husband, John, of Lenoir; a stepson, Martin Sigman and wife, Deanna, of Conover; eight nieces, Sharon and Steve Whisnant of Denver, Annette and Wayne Newton of Long Island, Jan and Ron Nugen of Idaho, Sharon and John Winden, Hallene Walker and Marie and Fess Combs of Washington, Sandra and Don Ross of Tennessee and Annette and Jim Burns of California; and five nephews, Mitchell Sigmon of Claremont, Leslie and Luella White and Al Brooks of Washington and Thomas Sigmon and Fred May of California.

A Service of Remembrance will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 3, 2005, at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in Claremont. The Rev. Dr. Charles Dickson will officiate, and the message will be delivered by the Rev. James Cone.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service.

Pallbearers will be Mitchell Sigmon, Wayne Newton, Mickey Lineberger, Doug Miller, Mike Pannell and Ford Banner.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 tonight, Wednesday, at Drum Funeral Home in Conover.

Memorials may be made to Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 579, Claremont, N.C. 28610.

Information on Francis Rockett Sigman, Husband of Nannie Elizabeth Sigmon

Francis was the son of Martin L. Linnie Pearl (Wike) Sigmon. He married (1) Mary Evelyn (Moose) in 1942 and they were the parents of four children: Willie Pearl, Carolyn Lavania, Mary Frances and Martin Lawrence. He married (2) Nannie Elizabeth Sigmon in 1957 and they were the parents of two children: John Leslie and Cathy Elizabeth. He married (3) Maude Towery in 1970.
 
 
 

Obituary For Daisy Lemyre Sigmon

 
Daisy Lemyre Sigmon, 84, of Newton, died Saturday, Dec. 13, 2008, at Catawba Valley Medical Center.

Ms. Sigmon was born March 21, 1924, in Catawba County, a daughter of the late Leslie Burette and Daisy Setzer Sigmon.

She was a homemaker and spent her entire life taking care of her mother, her siblings and the rest of her family. She was a member of Mount Calvary Lutheran Church and attended Lighthouse Ministries in Claremont.

She is survived by nieces, Sharon Whisnant and husband, Steve, of Denver, N.C., Cathy Banner and husband, Randy, of Conover and Annette Newton and husband, Wayne, of Longisland; nephews, Leslie Sigman of Hickory and Mitchell Sigmon of Claremont; and great-nieces and great-nephews, Nichole O'Shields, Matthew Banner, Christina Banner, Jonathan Banner, Cody Newton, Daniel Newton and Melinda Sigmon.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Nannie Sigman, and two brothers, John Sigmon and Jack Sigmon.

A service of remembrance will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2008, at Drum Funeral Home chapel, Conover, with the Rev. Jesse Hamlett officiating.

Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Lutheran Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m., prior to the service, at Drum Funeral Home in Conover.
