Nannie Sigmon Sigman, 85, of Bethany Church
Road, Claremont, died Monday, Jan. 31, 2005.
Born Jan, 25, 1920, in Catawba County, she was
the daughter of the late Leslie Burette and
Daisy Setzer Sigmon.
She retired as a bookkeeper for Timmerman
Manufacturing. She was a longtime member of
Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, where she was in
the choir for 50 years, taught Sunday school for
over 50 years and was a member of the Women’s
Group and the Social Ministry Committee.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded
in death by her brothers, John Patrick Sigmon,
Leslie Jackson Sigmon and James Burette Sigmon.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law,
Cathy and Randall Banner of Conover; a son,
Leslie Sigman of Hickory; three grandchildren,
Matthew, Christina and Jonathan Banner; a
sister, Daisy L. Sigmon of Claremont; three
stepdaughters, Willie Pearl Yount and husband,
Paul, of Conover, Carolyn Sigman of Hickory and
Mary Frazier and husband, John, of Lenoir; a
stepson, Martin Sigman and wife, Deanna, of
Conover; eight nieces, Sharon and Steve Whisnant
of Denver, Annette and Wayne Newton of Long
Island, Jan and Ron Nugen of Idaho, Sharon and
John Winden, Hallene Walker and Marie and Fess
Combs of Washington, Sandra and Don Ross of
Tennessee and Annette and Jim Burns of
California; and five nephews, Mitchell Sigmon of
Claremont, Leslie and Luella White and Al Brooks
of Washington and Thomas Sigmon and Fred May of
California.
A Service of Remembrance will be held at 3
p.m. Thursday, Feb. 3, 2005, at Mount Calvary
Lutheran Church in Claremont. The Rev. Dr.
Charles Dickson will officiate, and the message
will be delivered by the Rev. James Cone.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The body will be placed in the church 30
minutes prior to the service.
Pallbearers will be Mitchell Sigmon, Wayne
Newton, Mickey Lineberger, Doug Miller, Mike
Pannell and Ford Banner.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to
8:30 tonight, Wednesday, at Drum Funeral Home in
Conover.
