Elsie Louise Loftin was born 02 Dec 1928 in Catawba County, North Carolina.  Louise was the second child born to Charlie Roosevelt Loftin and Edna Jones.  Louise was born a little over a year and a half after her brother Paul Roosevelt Loftin.

Louise's father, Charlie, had a large farm on E. Bandys Rd, which also included Loftin's Fish Lake.  Louise and Paul kept busy working and playing on the family farm.

Louise was accustomed to the hard work that went along with helping to run the family farm.  She frequently worked in the fields - plowing and harvesting crops.
