Caroline Elizabeth Hart was the fourth child born to Willaim E. Hart (1814 - 1907) and Judith Ann Stone (1822 - 1893).  Caroline was born 18 Sep 1848 in Walton, Eaton County, Michigan.
 
 
The 1850 Census shows William and Judith living in Walton, Eaton County, Michigan.  Caroline's age is listed as 1 year old.  Carolyn's other siblings on this Census are: Adeline (age 9), Alanson (age 6) and Eber (age 4).

The 1880 Census shows Samuel and Rosanna/Susanna Denniston living in the Franklin Precinct of Franklin County, Nebraska, with their youngest child, Elmer Augustus Denniston (age 8).

The 1900 Census shows that John Mathew and Caroline had moved back to Michigan with their family. They were living in the Grant Township of Mecosta County, Michigan.  John's age was listed as 48 and Caroline 51. There were five children living the family: William Mathew (age 22), Emery Otis (age 20), Myrtle Mae (age 18), Lora Viola (age 13) and Alanson Manville (age 9).  John Mathew, William and Emery were working on the family farm.
 
This 1900 Census (as well as the 1910 Census) shows that Caroline had given birth to 8 children but only 5 were living.

The 1910 Census shows that John Mathew and Caroline Elizabeth were still living in the Grant Township of Mecosta County, Michigan.  He was 58 and she was 61.  This was the first marriage for both and they have been married for 37 years.  The Census again shows that Caroline had given birth to 8 children but only 5 were still living.  The children still living at home are Myrtle May (age 28), Lorna Viola (age 23) and Alanson Manville (age 19).

John Mathew and Caroline's son, Emery Otis Denniston, and his wife Helen/Ellen Doris Earnshaw are living nearby.  He is 23 and she is 19.  They have one child, Reese Mathew Denniston (age 1 year and 8 months).  Emery is working as a farmer.

John Mathew Denniston died 26 Oct 1927, in the Grant Township of Mecosta County, Michigan.  He was 75 at the time of his death.  Caroline Elizabeth Hart Denniston died 13 May 1935 in the Grant Township of Mecosta County, Michigan.  She was 86.  They are buried in the Oakdale Cemetery in Hersey, Osceola County, Michigan.
