Eber Hart Jr. was born 29 Nov 1788 in Tiverton, Newport
County, Rhode Island to
Eber Hart Sr. (1756 - 1842) and Alice Devol. |
|
|
By 1790 Eber Sr. had moved to Massachusetts. The following Westport, Massachusetts, Vital Records report
gives their birth dates, marriage date, as well as the names and
birth dates of four of their children. This record lists "Eber
Hart Jun. born Nov 29, 1788". |

The 1790 Census shows Eber Sr. living in Westbort, Bristol
County, Massachusetts with his family and George Hart as their
neighbor. Even though other
family members aren't mentioned by name, it's pretty easy to
figure out who was living in the house in 1790. Eber Sr.
is the "Free White Male of 16 years old and upward. Sons
Holder and Eber Jr. are the "Free White Males Under 16
years". The 3 "Free White Females are wife Alice and
daughters, Abigail and Elizabeth. |

The 1810 Census shows Eber Sr. living in Camillus, Onondaga County,
New York, with his family. Eber Sr. would have been the
"Free Male 45 and Older", Eber Jr. would have been the
"Free Male 16 to 25" and Pardon would have been the "Free Male
10 to 15". At this time I'm not sure how Alice and daughters
Elizabeth and Abigal fit the ages that are listed for the
females in this family. |

The 1840 Census appears to be the Census for Eber Hart, Jr. Eber Jr. (age 53) would have been the Male between the ages of
50 to 59. More than likely the older male and female were
Eber Jr's parents. The male aged 80 to 89 would
have been Eber Hart, Sr. (who would have been 84) years
old and the female aged 80 to 89 would have been his wife,
Alice Devol Hart. |

Elizabeth "Betsy" Howe Hart died 23 Mar 1867 and was
buried in the Sears Cemetery in Baldwinsville, Onondaga County,
New York. She was 72 at the time of her death. |
|
|
Electa Hart married the Hart family farm laborer, George W.
Nostrand. The 1870 Census shows Electa and George Nostrand
living in Van Buren, Onondage County, New York. They had a
daughter named Anna (age 7). Electa's father, Eber Hart
Jr. (age 81), was living with them. More than likely,
George and Electa had taken over running the Eber Hart's farm
beacuse of his age. Eber Jr. is listed as having $1000
Personal Estate. |
