Frank Leonard "Jim" Caldwell was the last child born to William Pinkney "Bill" Caldwell (1871 - 1947) and Mary Elizabeth Crouse (1877 - 1917).  Frank was born 30 Oct 1916 in Catawba County, NC.
 
 
This Birth Index from 1916 shows that Frank Leonard Caldwell was born 10-30-16 (30 Oct 1916) to William P. Caldwell and Mary E. Crouse (Caldwell).

Frank's mother, Mary Elizabeth Crouse Caldwell, died 04 Jun 1917 at the age of 39.  Her Death Certificate lists the cause of death as "Typhoid Fever" with "nephritis" (inflammation of the kidneys) as a contributory cause of death.  Frank was only 7 months old at the time of her death.
 
 
The 1920 Census shows William Pinkney "Bill" Caldwell living in the Caldwell Township of Catawba County, NC.  The children listed on the 1920 Census are Robert Osborne (age 16), Maudie Maybell (age 14), Tiny Elizabeth (age 13), Berlie Elizabeth (age 11), Mary Permollie (age 9), Rhoda Lee (age 7), Lillie May (age 6 years and 6 months) and Frank Leonard (age 3 years and two months).

In 1930, there were still six children living with Bill Caldwell on the family farm in Caldwell Township in Catawba County, NC.  The children still living at home were Maudie (age 24), Tiny (age 22), Mary (age 19), Rhoda (age 18), Lillie (age 15) and Frank (age 13).  Lillie and Frank were still attending school.

Frank married Vera Ofelda "Bunk" Cline on 27 Mar 1937 in Catawba County, NC, when he was 20 years old and she was 16.  Vera was born 31 Jul 1920 in Catawba County, NC, and was the daughter of Ernest Otha Cline (1893 - 1961) and Callie Espie Brotherton Sherrill (1891 - 1981). 
 
 
 
The 1940 Census shows William "Bill" Pinkney Caldwell still living in the Caldwell Township of Catawba County, NC.  The only child that was still living with Bill was his son Frank.  Frank was 23 years old and had recently married Vera Ofelda Cline, age 19.  Frank had completed 3 years of High School and Vera had completed 4 years of High School.

Frank and Vera both died 23 Dec 2010 as a result of an automobile accident.  Both are buried in the cemetery of Mt. Ruhema Baptist Church in Maiden, Catawba County, NC.

Frank Leonard "Jim" Caldwell, 94 of Maiden, went to be with his heavenly father on Thursday, December 23, 2010 at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
 
Frank "Jim" was born October 30, 1916 in Catawba Co, NC.  He was the son of the late William Pinkney Caldwell and Mary Elizabeth Crouse Caldwell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by BROTHERS, Albert Washington Caldwell and Robert Osborne Caldwell; SISTERS, Maudie Caldwell Lawing, Tinie Elizabeth Caldwell, Berlie Caldwell Lawing, Mary Caldwell Reinhardt, Rhoda Caldwell Reinhardt and Lillie Caldwell Robinson.
 
He was a retired employee of Jackson Buff in Conover. He was a lifelong member of Mt. Ruhama Baptist Church in Maiden, where he served as a deacon and a member of the choir.
 
SURVIVORS include SONS, Donald Leonard Caldwell and wife, MaryAnn of Maiden, William Nelson Caldwell and wife, Carolyn of Newton; DAUGHTERS, Sharon Caldwell and husband, Ronnie of Summerville, SC, Myra Caldwell Robinson and husband, Michael of Newton, NC; GRANDCHILDREN, Michael Caldwell, Melissa Cope and husband, Trey, Mark Caldwell and wife, Lyn, Cherie Brown and husband, Michael, Christy Buff and husband, Jimmie, Janet Underwood and husband, Gary, Leslie Loftin and husband, Philip, Linda Reiter and husband, John, Jason Robinson and wife, Jennifer; GREAT GRANDCHILDREN, Harlie Cope, Callie Cope, Sadie Underwood, Addie Brown and Nathan Robinson.
 
A service of remembrance will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, December 27, 2010 at Mt. Ruhama Baptist Church. The Rev. Patrick Purdy and Rev. Marion Powell will officiate and burial will follow in the church cemetery.
 
The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:45 p.m. at the church prior to the funeral.

Vera Cline Caldwell, 90, of Maiden, went to be with her heavenly father on Thursday, Dec. 23, 2010, at Catawba Valley Medical Center in Hickory due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

 
Born July 31, 1920, in Lincoln County, Vera was the daughter of the late Ernest Otha Cline and Callie Brotherton Cline. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her HUSBAND of 73 years, Frank Leonard Caldwell; SISTERS, Challie-Bain Cline Beal, Avis Cline Little, Juanita Cline Drum, Evelyn Cline Campbell and Jeanette Cline Black.
 
She was a retired employee of Bassett Furniture and Desota Furniture. She was a member of Mt. Ruhama Baptist Church in Maiden, WMU and helped with VBS & GA's.
