John Simpson Robinson was married three times and was the father of 12 children.  He first married on March 31, 1835 to Mary Ann Milligan (b. 12 Oct 1814 - d. 11 Nov 1837).  The couple had one daughter - Jane Rebecca Robinson.

John Simpson Robinson married a second time on October 12, 1840 to Elizabeth Epps "Epsa" Lineberger Wilkinson (b. 19 May 1817 - d. 18 Jan 1869) the widow of Francis Wilkinson and daughter of Michael Lineberger.  Epsa married Francis Wilkinson on 14 Jun 1836. Eleven children were born (to John Simpson Robinson and Epsa Lineberger Wilkinson Robinson).

The 1850 Census shows John Simpson Robinson living in Catawba County, NC, and his age was listed as 38.  He was a farmer and his farm was valued at $1000.  There is no indication as to why his second wife, Elizabeth Epps Lineberger Wilkinson Robinson, wasn't listed on the Census, but her daughter Sarah Wilkinson (age 12) was.

The 1860 Census shows John Simpson Robinson and his wife, Epsa, living the the Mountain Creek community of Catawba County, NC.  He is 47 and she is 42.  He is still working as a farmer and his farm is valued at $3000.  His Personal Estate is valued at $1950.  There were 9 children living with John Simpson and Epsa: Mary Ann (age 20), Francis Osborne (age 17), John Wilson (age 14), Michael Pinckney (age 12), Martin Monroe (age 9), Susan Caroline (age 8), Rachel Ladora (age 6), Martha Alice (age 1) and William Isaac Marion Robinson (age 3).  John Simpson and Epsa had a daughter, Laura Epps Robinson, born 10 Dec 1858 but she only lived for 10 days, dying on 20 Dec 1858.  This is the last Census that John Wilson Robinson will be listed on, too.  He died 20 Nov 1863 at the age of 18 - cause of death is unknown.

(John Simpson Robinson) Married a third time on August 26, 1869, to Jane Camilla Sherrill (b. 08 Jun 1826 - d. 19 Oct 1896) the daughter of Elizabeth McCorkle and Jeptha Sherrill.  (John Simpton Robinson and Jane Camilla Sherrill had) No children.
 
John Simpson Robinson and his first two wives are buried at Mt. Pleasant while his third wife, Jane Camilla Sherrill is buried at Rehobeth Church Cemetery.
 
 
 
The 1870 Census shows John Simpson and Camilla living in the Mountain Creek community of the Sherrills Ford area of Catawba County, NC.  John Simpson's farm was valued at $1200 and his personal estate value was $300. There were seven children living on the family farm: Michael Pinkney (age 22), Martin Monroe (age 20), Susan Caroline (age 18), Rachel Ladora (age 16), William Isaac Marion (age 14), Martha Alice (age 10) and Ida Victoria (age 6).

The 1880 Census shows John Simpson Robinson and his wife Camilla Sherrill Robinson living in the Mountain Cree Township of Catawba County, NC.  His sister-in-law, Martha Sherrill (more than likely Camilla's sister), age 60, was living with them. Two of John Simpson and 2nd wife Epsa's daughters were still living with him: Martha Alice (age 19) and Ida Victoria (age 17).  There were also two servants living and working on the farm: Alexander Talbert (age 27) and Pinkney Sherrill (age 20).

John Simpson's third child, Francis Osborne (Robinson) was a Civil War veteran, Member of Company E. 22nd Regiment. 
 
From the Catawba Soldier, 1911 - Francis Osborne Robinson was born April 15, 1843, Was reared upon a farm in Mountain Creek Township, Catawba County, NC.  He volunteered at the call of his country June 2, 1862; Joined Co E. 32nd Regiment under Capt. M. W. Wilson; served 15 months in regular field service; was then detailed to drive an ambulance, at which he was captured at Gettysburg, on South Mountain Turnpike Road at midnight on the 4th and 5th of July, 1863, while in charge of a load of wounded Confederate officers.  He was first sent to Fort Delaware where he remained for three or four months; thence removed to Pt. Lookout, MD, where he remained until exchanged in February 1865. He was then sent to Camp Lee, Richmond; thence sent home on a 60-day furlough, but never returned to service, as Lee surrendered before his furlough expired.  He is still living on a competency acquired by industry and economy.
