Frederick Thompson Loftin     Born: 26 Feb 1889, Mt. Holly, Gaston County, NC Died: 31 Aug 1969, Indianapolis, Marion County, IN     Frederick Thompson Loftin was the third child born to Jacob Philo Loftin and Rachel Elizabeth Patterson.  Fred was born 26 Feb 1889 in Mt. Holly, NC.  The description of his physical appearance is that he is tall, with blue eyes and light-colored hair.   1917-18 WWI Draft Registration Card       The 1920 Census for Marion County, Indiana, shows Fred married to Ida/Edith and living in Indianapolis Ward 1, Center Township.  Fred was 30 and Ida was 29.  They had two children: Ladonna M. age 3 years 5 months and Leonard T. age 2 years 2 months.  Ida/Edith had been born in Ohio, but her father had been born in Germany (and German was his native language) - her mother had been born in Pennsylvania.  Both of Fred and Ida's children had been born in Indiana.   Fred was working as an engineer for the railroad.  According to his grandson (John Frederick Davison, Indianapolis, Indiana), Fred was an engineer for the New York Central Railroad for many years before retiring in 1958.   1920  Indianapolis Ward 1, Center Township, Marion County, Indiana Census   Last Name First Name Relation Age Sex Birth Person Birth Father Occupation Occupation Loftin Fred T. Fred is 51, Edith is 40 and Leonard is 22. Fred owns his home with a Real Estate value of $3200 and was working as an Engineer for the Railroad. He worked 52 weeks in 1939 with an annual income of $3100. Leonard had worked as a laborer at a packing plant 20 weeks in 1939 with an annual income of $600. He had just climbed out of the cab of  the Diesel Engine (No 11), which ran regularly between, Indianapolis and Mattoon, Illinois.
