Smith married Antha Mae Yount. Mae was born 29 Dec 1911 in Catawba County, NC, and died 17 Apr 2001.
Their marriage produced five children.

Smith died 31 Jan 1969. After his death, his widow, Antha Mae, married Paul Abraham Murray (Sadie Loftin Murray Lee's 1st husband). Upon her death on 17 Apr 2001, Antha Mae was buried at Shiloh Methodist Church in Catawba County, NC, beside of Smith. Shiloh Methodist Church
