Thomas Goble

Died:  After 30 Nov 1657, Concord, Mass

 

Thomas Goble was born 02 Jan 1590 in the Westergate, West Sussex, England.  He was the son of William Goble.

                             

Thomas married Alice Brookman on 05 Nov 1619 in Aldingbourne, West Sussex, ENGLAND.

Thomas and Alice (along with their 3-year-old son, John) migrated to America in 1633 or early 1634.  They settled in Charlestown, Massachusetts.  Alice gave birth to their second child, Elizabeth, in 1634, in rout to America or shortly thereafter.
                             
On 30 Aug 1634 Thomas and Alice joined the First Church of Charleston, Massachusetts, and on 03 Sep he received his papers as a freeman and started purchasing property in the area.
 

 

Thomas and Alice had six children.

Thomas and Alice became respected citizens in Charleston and amassed a great deal of property and wealth.  They eventually purchases a large farm near Concord, Massachusetts where he became a major investor and landowner.  

 
 

Thomas died after 30 Nov 1657 in Concord, Massachusetts.  His will was probated 29 Dec 1657.

 
Alice was still living at the time of Thomas' death, and was mentioned in his will: "I give and bequeath to Alice my wife fair profit on all my stock so long as she liveth a widow...".  Inventory from Thomas' estate included "one featherbed, two feather pillows & wool blankets, one small featherbed, two bolsters, two blankets, and one trundle bed, 40 pounds of paraffin, two iron pots."
