The Johnson Family of Shiloh Township, Iredell Co, NC

The 1800s

The Johnson Family living in the Shiloh Township of Iredell County, NC, in the 1800s was a close knit family.  This page will take a look at the numerous Johnson families living in close proximity to each other in Shiloh Township from 1850 to 1900.

The 1850 Census shows Robert (age 73) and Mary Johnson and many of their relatives living in close proximity.  Robert's children living on the farm were Israel, Albert and Mary.  Living nearby were sons Leander and Pinkney.

I'm not sure what relationship Isaac Johnson (age 63) and Mary Johnson (age 63) are to Robert Johnson.  There age is relatively close to Robert.  Isaac could have been a brother - and Mary (perhaps) a sister-in-law.

The 1860 Census of Iredell County (District South of the Yadkin) shows numerous Johnson relatives. Leander were living nearby his brother Robert and brother Pinkney's widow (Levina).  The same Mary Johnson was still living nearby and could have been an aunt.

The 1870 Iredell County Census for Shiloh Township shows Leander and his family living near many of the same relatives - including the widow of his brother Pinkney (Levina).  Brother Robert Johnson must have died during the previous 10 year because his wife (Myra) and children were living by themselves.
