John's name appears in North Carolina records for the first time
in 1763 when he swore loyalty to the British King at the
Superior Court in Rowan County, NC, but he may have been in the
area many years before that. The area where John settled
was part of Anson County (eventually becoming part of
Mecklenburg County in 1762 and then Cabarrus County in 1792).
He never moved from his farm on Dutch Buffalo Creek (named for
the German people who settled there). |
|
Jacob married Ann (Unknown) after the death of his second wife.
In a deed dated 12 Oct 1782, Ann relinquished her widows dower.
Jacob and Ann had one child. |

The 1790 Census shows the Bushart family consisting of two males
over 16 (John and his son, Jacob), three females (wife Ann and
daughters Rosina and Catherine), and one slave. |
|
|
John Bushart died in March 1795. Pastor Storch (according
to his diary) was the minister at the funeral and he preached
from Luke 2:29, "Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in
peace, according to thy word." |
|
|
Jacob Bushart (John's son) and Daniel Jarrett were the executors
of his Will. It was proven in April 1795 in Cabarrus
County court. Jacob gave his stepmother, Ann, her widow's
share plus a child's part (for Jacob's half-sister, Catherine) |
|
|
Ann Bushart died in late 1807 (or early 1808). After Ann's
death, Catherine's husband, George Roseman, sued Jacob in 1810
"to show just cause why the will of John Bushart had not been
executed". |
