Miles Rankin Witherspoon was the seventh child born to Thomas Wesley Witherspoon and Margaret Rankin.  Miles was born 13 Mar 1817 in Lincoln/Catawba County, NC.

Miles Rankin's siblings were:

By 1880, Miles Rankin was 63 and Sarah was 61.  There were only two of their children still living at home, Emanuel and Denford, but they had taken in an orphan, who was bound to the family.
 
Sarah died on 08 Nov 1887.
 
                             
1890 North Carolina Federal Census Records were destroyed in a 1921 fire and only small fragments survived for South Point and River Bend Townships in Gaston County AND Township No. 2 in Cleveland County.
                             
Miles Rankin Witherspoon died 09 Feb 1892.  He and Sarah are buried in the Bethlehem Methodist Church Cemetery in Claremont, NC.
