After Alonzo Lester Loftin's marriage to Ida Lillian Setzer, Ida gave birth to her first set of twins on 31 May 1911 and named them Willie Thelma Loftin and Callie Elma Loftin.

The 1920 Catawba Census lists Thelma's parents and siblings.  Several of the sibling names are misspelled.  The Census show her name as Thelma W. but it was actually W. Thelma.

Thelma’s second marriage was to Dewey M. Lanier.  Thelma and Dewey resided in Claremont, NC on Hwy. 70.
