Frances knew John Wesley Drum from the community where she lived.  His family had been near neighbors of her family.  The 1900 Catawba County Census reveals that Mary Frances was not living with her parents Alexander & Laura Loftin.  Frances would eventually marry Wesley Drum around 1912.  This 1900 Census shows Wesley, age 19, still living at home with his parents Thomas and Sarah Drum.  The Census also shows her paternal grandmother Elizabeth Loftin, age 69.  There were also a set of neighbors, the Wilkeys, who also live nearby.
