Mary Frances Loftin   Born: 19 Sep 1878, Catawba County, NC Died:  15 Jun 1958, Catawba County, NC                                   (Left) Frances, Alonzo and Zettie   Mary Frances Loftin Loftin was the second child born to William Alexander Loftin and Laura W. Cranford.  Frances was born 19 Sep 1878 in Catawba County, North Carolina.   Mary Frances Loftin                               Being the oldest daughter, Frances stayed busy in a house with seven children.  She was frequently called on to help with the younger children.                                     (Right) Frances & a friend     (Below) Frances & Zettie           Frances knew John Wesley Drum from the community where she lived.  His family had been near neighbors of her family.  The 1900 Catawba County Census reveals that Mary Frances was not living with her parents Alexander & Laura Loftin.  Frances would eventually marry Wesley Drum around 1912.  This 1900 Census shows Wesley, age 19, still living at home with his parents Thomas and Sarah Drum.  The Census also shows her paternal grandmother Elizabeth Loftin, age 69.  There were also a set of neighbors, the Wilkeys, who also live nearby.       1900 Catawba  County Census   Last Name First Name Relation Race Sex Birth Month Birth Year Age Md. Son M W 6 S Yes     NC None         The 1930 Mecklenburg County Census reveals that Wesley, Frances and Garvin had moved from Catawba County to Mecklenburg County.  They lived in Charlotte, North Carolina, just off of Highway 16.  Wesley's age was 49, Frances was 51 and Garvin was 16.  Wesley was employed as a carpenter and Garvin worked with the telegraph.     1930 Mecklenburg  County Census   Last Name First Name Relation Real Estate Value Sex Race Age Md.
