The Loftin Family                                         Descendency From Leonard Loftin (1616)   Name Origin: England                                                                                 The Loftin family surname can be found in Virginia as early as 1674 on various deeds and records.   The name Loftin can be found throughout the US, but most prominently in North Carolina and Texas.                                         My research traces our definite earliest branch of the Loftin family to John Loftin, born 29 November 1740 in Sussex, Brunswick & Greenville Counties, VA.  Some say his father was Benoni Loftin - others say it was his brother Cornelius Loftin.  Regardless, the root still seems to go back to Leonard Loftin, born between 1610 - 1616 in England, as being the first Loftin to come to the US.                                                                                                                         1 Leonard Loftin/Laughton, b.
