Larry Henry Loftin was born 13 Jan 1927 in Iredell County, North Carolina. He was the first child of Roy Henry Loftin and Sarah Mae Morrow.

Larry spent his early years growing up in the town of Catawba, North Carolina, attending Catawba School, just a block away from the family home.
Roy and Mae moved to Canton, NC in 1941. Larry stayed in Statesville to finish out the school year at Celeste Hinkle, living with his maternal grandparents.
At the brink of WW2, Roy said to Larry, “Son, there’s gonna be a war and you’re gonna have to go.”
Larry enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served in WW2 and again in the Korean War.

Larry married (1) Sarah "Sally" Fain and (2) Carmen Nichols. Larry and Sarah had three children:
