Grady Adams Loftin, Jr.                                                             Born: 12 Jul 1924 Died: 28 Nov 2005       (Left) Grady Adams Loftin, Jr.   Grady Adams Loftin, Jr. was born 12 Jul 1924.  He was the first child born to Grady Adams Loftin, Sr. and Sallie Akiss. Grady's Grandparents were Alonzo Kelly Loftin and Sarah Ida Otta Sigman. Grady's paternal Great-Grandparents were Langdon Loftin (b. 26 Feb 1826) and Sena "Cenie" Link.  Grady's paternal Great-Great-Grandparents were Eldridge Edward Loftin and Mary Sherrill. His paternal Great-Great-Great-Grandparents were John Loftin (b. 29 Nov 1740) and Martha Lanier.                   Thanks to Mike Talbot and Lynn Baker Loftin for the photo of Grady Adams Loftin Jr.                     The 1930 Census shows that 36-year-old Grady Sr. and his family were living in the Otter River District of Campbell County, VA.  The Census lists Sallie's age as 31.  Grady Sr. and Sallie had two sons - Grady, Jr., age 5, and Clayton, age 2 1/2.  The family also had a 14-year-old female Negro cook living with them, by the name of Rosine Hogue.   1930 Campbell County, Virginia Census   Name Relation Real Estate Value Sex Race Age Md/S Age Md. Head $6500 M W 36 M 27 No Yes NC NC VA Cedar Plant ----- Sallie Wife   F W 31 M 25 No Yes VA VA VA None Loftin Grady Jr. Son   M W 5 S   No   VA NC VA None ----- Clayton Son   M W 2 6/12 S   No   VA NC VA None Hogue Rosine Servant   F Neg 14 S   No Yes VA VA VA Cook / Private Family       Grady Jr. had completed one year of college when he entered the military during WWII at the age of 17.  He enlisted on 18 Oct 1943 in Virginia as a Private.  He was living in Campbell County, VA, at the time.  His enlistment was for the duration of the War or other emergency, plus six months, subject to the discretion of the President or otherwise according to law.           Grady Jr. met Mary Emma Rush in Indiana while he was getting a geology degree at Indiana University.  Grady Jr. married Mary in 1950 and they moved to Maryland, just outside of Washington, D.C.  While living there, daughter Sallie C. Loftin was born in D.C.   The family moved to Seattle, WA, where Grady Jr. planned to study oceanography.  He, however, hadn't sent in an application, so he didn't get into Scripps Institute.   They moved back to Bloomington and then to Louisiana where he was hired by General Geophysical.  In 1961, the family settled across the river from New Orleans in Gretna, LA and Grady Jr. went to work for an information trading business that dealt with shot records for oil companies.  In 1973, Grady Jr. started Geophysical Data Banks.  From 1993 to 1995, Grady lived at 801 Smith Dr, Metairie, LA.  The home phone number was 504-837-7721.   Grady Loftin Jr. and Mary Emma Rush divorces in 1975.  Mary and Sallie moved from Gretna, LA to Santa Fe, NM in 1975 while the divorce was being finalized.     Grady Adams Loftin, Jr., and Mary Emma Rush had one child: Name Birth Date Death Date Spouse Sallie C. Loftin     Donald L. Henderson, Jr.     Grady stayed in Metairie until 1995/1996 when Lynn's job took them to Okinawa, Japan.  They returned to Louisiana two years later, settling in New Iberia and them finally moving to Zachary, LA where Lynn took a position at Southern University in Baton Rouge, LA.   Grady and Lynn lived at 1646 2. Columbine St, Baton Rouge, LA in 1998.  Home phone number was 504-761-1625.  In 2001, Grady and Lynn lived at 2616 Lester St., New Iberia, LA and the home phone number was 337-367-5578.  At the time of Grady's death, 28 Nove 2005, he was living at 70791 Zachary, East Baton Rouge, LA.         Grady and Mary's daughter, Sallie, met Donald L. Henderson, Jr. in Alamogordo, NM.  They were married in 1980, but Sallie did not change her name.  Sallie acquired her Masters in Education.   Sallie and Donald L.
