Sampson Lanier, Jr.     Born: Abt. 1712, Surry Co, VA Died:  Sep 1757, Brunswick Co, VA                                             Sampson Lanier, Jr. was born about 1712 in Charles City County, Virginia.  He was the son of Sampson Lanier, Sr. and Elizabeth Washington.                                                   Sampson, Jr. married Elizabeth Chamberlain about 1740 in Brunswick County, Virginia.  Elizabeth was the daughter of Samuel Chamberlain.     Sampson and Elizabeth had eight children.   Children of Sampson Lanier, Jr. and Elizabeth Chamberlain Lanier Name Date of Birth Date of Death Spouse Martha Lanier Abt. 1740 06 Aug 1823 John Loftin Burnell Lanier Aug 1741 Abt. 1812 (1) Elizabeth Hill (2) Mary Kirby-Colson Buckner Lanier Abt. 1742   Mary Pemberton Rebecca Lanier 06 Dec 1744   Walter Harris Winifred Lanier Abt. 1747   Drury Ledbetter Ann Nancy Lanier Abt. 1752 1833 (1) William Moore (2) James Vaughn Agnes Lanier Abt. 1753   William Davis Lewis Lanier Abt. 1753   (1) Ann Butler (2) Esther Butts Thorn         Two of Sampson and Elizabeth's sons, Burnell and Lewis, were Patriot soldiers during the Revolutionary War - Burnell in North Carolina and Lewis in Virginia.  Lewis served as private in the Virginia militia and was promoted to Captain.
