Walter "Walton" Douglas was born about 1820.  Walter married Susan Stewart, the daughter of Ralph "Rafe" Stewart and Rebecca Johnson.  Walter and Susan had five children, including ... " 3/12 F       NC                                                           Children of Walter Douglas and Mahala Catherine Miller Name Birth Date Death Date Spouse Frances Elizabeth Douglas 05 Mar 1861 03 Jul 1926 Jacob Hedrick Goble                                                                                                                 Walter and Mahala lived in a place called Jake Neck on the Catawba River, just off of Stewart Rock Road.  Their home was located near the end and to the right.  There was a family cemetery where Walter, Susan and Mahala are buried, but it was either destroyed by loggers or is now under water.  There are new homes for River Walk currently on this property.      Note: Walter's son, Julius Douglas, married Sara Louise Miller, his step-mother's sister.           Walter & Susan's youngest son, Cain, died 10 Jun 1931, in Miller's Township of Iredell County, NC.  He was 76 years old.  The Death Certificate lists his father as Walter Douglas and mother as Susan Stewart.  He was a widower, having previously been married to Harriet V. Young.   Cain D. Douglas' Death Certificate     Walter & Susan's daughter, Mary, died 17 Nov 1923 at the age of 72.  Her Death Certificate lists her father as Walter Douglas and her mother as Martha Stewart.  She was married to (Unknown) Griffie and was living in Union County, NC.   Mary Douglas' Death Certificate     Walter & Mahalah's daughter, Frances Elizabeth Douglas Goble, died 03 Jul 1926.  Fannie's Death Certificate shows her father as J. W.
