Like most everyone, I've had a variety of hobbies over the years
from the time I was a child and throughout adulthood -
Everything from collecting comics, coins, stamp, DVDs and
science fiction toys, to building plastic models, Israeli Folk
Dancing and collecting celebrity autographs. |
|
|
|
|
|
I started collecting celebrity autographs when I was a young boy
of 12. I wrote a letter to Angela Cartwright (Penny
Robinson of "Lost In Space"), and surprisingly she responded by
sending me an autographed photo and a hand written letter.
I was hooked. "Lost In Space" was my favorite TV show as a kid
and it became the main focus of my autograph collecting, too. |

In the year 1997, Earth is suffering from massive
overpopulation. Professor John Robinson, his wife Maureen, their
children (Judy, Penny and Will) and Major Don West are selected
to go to the third planet in the Alpha Centauri star system to
establish a colony so that other Earth people can settle there.
They are to go there on a ship of Professor Robinson's design,
christened the Jupiter 2. However, Doctor Zachary Smith, an
agent for an enemy government, is sent to sabotage the mission.
He is successful in reprogramming the ship's robot, but in the
process becomes trapped on the ship, and because of his excess
weight, the ship and all on board become hopelessly lost and it
now becomes a fight for survival as the crew tries to find their
way back home. |

I continued collecting autographs over the years in amongst my
many other hobbies. As an adult I found that there were
books and websites devoted to the hobby. I seldom bought
an autograph, and saw my collection grow just by writing a few
letters. |

This inscribed and signed photo of Lee Meriwether was another
one of my first autographs. Lee had been Miss America in
1955.
I received this photo when she was the female lead on another
one of my favorite science fictions TV shows created by Irwin
Allen, "The Time Tunnel"
which aired from 1966 - 1967.
She stared with Buddy Ebsen in "Barnaby Jones" from 1973 - 1980. |
